Did you know Westmoreland County became official back in 1775? That’s a long time, and a lot of that history can be uncovered at our six museums.

Passes for up to two adults and four children can be borrowed for one week each at the Norwin Public Library and other libraries in Westmoreland County.

These passes provide free access to:

WMAA (The Westmoreland Museum of American Art): Located in downtown Greensburg, the WAAM features a rotating collection of American art. There are modern exhibits as well as works by classical American artists in paint, sculpture, and other media.

Fort Ligonier: Once the site of a critical British and American stronghold, Fort Ligonier is now a national historic site and museum. Before becoming the Father of the Nation, George Washington honed his leadership skills in the mountains of Pennsylvania. Find out more at the Fort Ligonier Museum.

Bushy Run Battlefield: A victory that played a significant part in ending Pontiac’s War, an attempt by Native Americans to drive the British back to the coast. View the battlefield and artifacts from this lesser known chapter of American History.

Greensburg Fire Department Museum: Check out the history of the Greensburg Fire Department.

Lincoln Highway Experience: Have a slice of pie and a cup of coffee in a classic roadstop diner while you learn about the first coast to coast highway in the United States.

West Overton Village: The only pre-civil war American Village still standing. From a simple farm to a full scale Industrial village, the story of West Overton is a fascinating snapshot of a time long since passed.
