In 2004, The Norwin Public Library opened our brand new facility on Caruthers Lane.
In 1937, the library was housed in two rooms in the attic of the Irwin Bank and Trust building.
In between, an old plumbing shop, a Victorian style house, and a decommissioned Post Office each provided a temporary home on this remarkable journey from two rooms in an attic to the highest circulating library in Westmoreland County for six years running.
Over a million Norwin residents have visited over those twenty years, and borrowed over three million books and other items. Over a hundred thousand have attended an adult or children’s educational program.
We are proud to have always been members of the Norwin community.
We hope you’ll join us in looking hopefully towards the future, confident that the library and the community will be prepared to tackle the opportunities and challenges that lay in store.
