SUMMARY:Pandemics: 1919 and 2020 Similarities
DESCRIPTION:Comparing the 1918 and 2020 Pandemics with Dr. Tom Soltis-Thursday\, June 22 at 6:00pm During the previous program on the 1918 Flu Pandemic presentation\, Dr. Soltis used the word ‘haunting’ to describe the similarities between the arrival\, response\, and reaction to both Pandemics. Dr. Soltis will return to the Library with a follow-up presentation focusing on the similarities between these two Pandemics. \nThe presentation will look at the controversy surrounding the arrival of the ‘Spanish Lady’ in 1918 in our area\, how local officials took different approaches to responding to the arrival of the disease\, and how residents responded to the disease. The overall purpose is to allow those in attendance to draw the similarities between the response to a Pandemic in 1918 to our response to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
